Fattoria Uccelliera was born in the late 1960s . Today two generations work in the company and the third has already begun to make its welcome contribution in the extracurricular season. Each of us plays a different role within the company and everyone participates in strategic decisions. What characterizes the hilly estate (the famous “Poggi”), in addition to the vineyards and olive groves – even centenarians – are the high woods trunk, the extensive Populus Alba plants and arable land, extensively cultivated and mainly intended to make a natural but also rich environment available to the fauna. The Cellar, at the service of the production, and the numerous farmhouses, destined for the agritourism, have been restored using mostly ancient materials, to maintain those architectural characteristics that have made Tuscany universally appreciated. The properties with their ancient charm, immersed in an uncontaminated environment, thus blend with the landscape giving a pleasant sensation of peace and serenity. In our countryside a fossil coral reef was recently discovered, dating back to over 1 million years ago. At the time, the sea covered our current countryside, with a much more backward coast than today. The locality of Fauglia was a protected marine bay of shallow waters characterized offshore by meadows of plants of species exclusive to the Mediterranean Sea, by molluscs that lived sunken in the sediment and by seals. Further towards the coast there was a coral reef populated by a rich fauna of oysters, sea urchins and sea eagles. The exceptionality of this site of paleontological and geological interest lies in the perfect conservation of an important fossilized ecosystem
